The easiest way to install Acer Aspire 4920 with Winodws XP is to setting the SATA Mode to IDE Mode rather then AHCI Mode. Here is how to set the bios.
1. To enter the BIOS, press F2 as stated in the Acer welcome screen.

2. Use your Arrow Key to move the screen to Main section. At the bottom, the is a option to set the SATA Mode. Press

3. Save you setting by pressing F10. Exit the BIOS, system will reboot.
Now, you're ready to install Windows XP without any SATA driver.

"hmm" This looks very nice and easy, but I can"t see "SATA mode" as seen on the picture. My "BIOS" shows "D2D Recovery" as last so.. any help for that please.

ReplyDeleteTo overcome this, you will need to find a USB floppy drive. Too bad huh? Then you will need to download the SATA driver from INTEL website and the utility will create a driver disk. When u started the WinXP installation, Press F6 when prompted for other SCSI, RAID drivers.
You will need to go ACER Europe or Panama to get WinXP drivers esp the ATI graphic card as ATI dun have the x2500 driver, then the S touch pad driver for XP/Vista, if u installed the vista version, the Media key will not work! I could not find the s/w to change the PowerMovie to other player... any avdvise. thanks
